EA/DICE have sent out invites for Battlefield 4 alpha trial randomly via Origin today. The email invite informs players of the purpose of the trial and is to perform a number of server-related tests in preparation for the game’s launch. The trial runs for two weeks, taking place between 5pm and 11pm (UK time) every night.
If you’re a regular player of Battlefield on PC, check your emails to see if you’ve received an invite to the Alpha trial. If so, you won’t have to do anything else – the trial will appear later today in the “My games library” section of Origin, ready for download.
The following specs come from an alpha which are not to dissimilar to the recommended requirements for Battlefield 3. DICE warns that the Alpha version of the game does not represent the final quality of BF4. Keep in mind that the alpha will likely be both missing most level textures and not fully optimized.
- OS: Vista SP2, Win7 (Win8 not supported)
- 64 bit (32 bit not supported)
- Dx10 or Dx 11 GPU with 1+GB of RAM, Dx 11 highly recommended
- 25GB HDD free space required
- Latest Origin version required
If you didn’t receive an invite to the alpha this time around, you are out of luck. According to the official forums, “THERE WON’T BE A NEW BATCH, THE REPRESENTATIVE I SPOKE [TO] WAS WRONG. HOWEVER HAVING IT ON NO HAS AUTOMATICLY STOPPED EVERYONE FROM JOINING THE ALPHA”.
