The Battlefield 4 Beta starts in 5 days, and DICE has released pertinent information on how it will pan out in a post today. They go over some of the more basic stuff, Oct 1 is the exclusive beta date, while it is open to the public on Oct 4th on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
They also wanted to iterate that it is a true beta and they will be making changes based on the feedback that players provide.
“While the release of Battlefield 4 is relatively close, I wanted to underline that this is, in every respect, a true Beta test. We still have time to implement changes based on your feedback. Some of these changes will happen in time for launch; some feedback will be addressed after launch in our extensive ongoing support of the game.”
They will not only be looking at game play mechanics that testers will be looking at, but improving back-end processes as well, as the beta is the first major test on systems like servers, net code, and other things like that. They are looking to have 24/7 up time during the 2 week period, but DICE warns that there could be breaks where they have to restart or do other work.
Other things to note:
* PC Beta requires a 64-bit OS (Vista and above)
* DICE will be looking at several anti-cheat platforms along with PunkBuster
* The preload begins on September 29 at 10 AM PDT.
