Battlefield 4 will be the first game from EA to launch using the latest iteration of Frostbite, which isn’t a huge surprise considering that BF4’s developed by the same folks who develop the engine (EA DICE). Previously, Battlefield 3 was built on Frostbite 2 while Bad Company 1 and 2 were built on Frostbite 1 and 1.5, respectively.
The DICE Frostbite team launched their official website introducing gamers to the engine, as well as providing a platform for expanding the studio. Previously, only a single page with the Frostbite 3 logo was present. Now, you can explore the team, games powered by the engine, as well as jobs.
EA will also be bringing a version of its next generation engine to mobile platforms. Their website details the project:
One of our most exciting current projects is called Frostbite Go, a mobile division empowering EA game developers with Frostbite’s proven excellent workflows and features to bring true Frostbite experiences to all major mobile platforms.
